24th February

We drove in to Murchission to grab a pint of milk for breakfast and decided to aim for the North Coast of the South Island so we could hurry up and get to the North Island.

We found ourselves surrounded by fruit trees, vineyards, fruit stalls by the side of the road - and the smell was amazing - apple blossum and the scent of oranges - yummy.

Arrival at the Abel Tasman National Park -
naturally it's about to rain

At Moteuka, we found the tourist office where they were so helpful - we booked ourselves in for sea kayaking, managed to book the ferry to the North Island, got ourselves into a cheap campsite at the Abel Tasman National Park and even signed up for loads of walking.

We checked into the campsite at Marahau where we chilled for the afternoon - we had hoped we would get the sunshine we had driven through all day but no such luck - the minute we put our chairs outside it started to rain! We are starting to get a complex!
