We got a 10am ferry across the water to Venice. We were quite unprepared for how busy it was. Absolutely heaving but well worth the trip and definitely a place to visit again when it is not 40 degrees in the shade – we were struggling to walk but managed to see the sights, cross lots of bridges and see loads of gondolas.
By about 4pm we had suffered enough from heat exhaustion and headed back home.
We will have to go again when it's cooler.
